Dr. Donna Wilson, Co-Author, 21st Century Skills: A Key to America’s Future
Dr. Donna Wilson, former university chairperson of education at the University of Detroit Mercy and an educational psychologist, is author of 20 books and articles on infusing 21st century skills into K-12 education. She completed post-doctoral studies in Israel where she studied the theory of structural cognitive modifiability. As a school psychologist she conducted more than 1,000 student evaluations and found that many students had not been taught the thinking skills they needed to achieve academic success. This experience was the inspiration for the development of the BrainSMART® process for helping all students cultivate 21st century skills. President of BrainSMART, Inc. and 21st Century Skills, LLC, Dr. Wilson is leader of the academic teams for both of these organizations.
Dr. Donna Wilson specializes in creating and providing innovative, fresh, and research-based professional development in K-12 delivered live and online. She is also the co-developer of current, cutting-edge online graduate studies focused on Brain-Based Education at the Master’s, Education Specialist, and Doctoral levels with the Fischler School of Education and Human Services at Nova Southeastern University. Over the last 10 years Dr. Wilson has personally presented to over 40,000 educators across many states. She and partner, Marcus Conyers, have served as professional developers in many of the largest districts in the U.S, as well as in many suburban and rural areas of the country. The team has also presented in a number of countries internationally. In addition to providing professional development, Dr. Wilson has facilitated grass roots partnerships for bringing together educators, health care providers, government agencies, and business leaders for the purpose of cultivating 21st century skills K-12.
